Want to test your water skiing skills? Take a locum job in Australia, where skiers are so good they set world records.
Off Tasmania's west coast, a group of water skiers recently set a new world record when one boat towed 145 people behind it, without a single person falling to break the line. With its youngest participant at 12 years old and the eldest being 60, the group broke a record that they had originally set
in the same harbor two years ago.
The team had to remain upright behind the boat for at least one nautical mile, a task that took the group several tries to accomplish.
"You crash into each other and your skis get wrapped up and your skis end up on top of each other's, but you just hear everyone saying it's fine, we'll do it, we'll do it," stated Lynne Bennett to The World Today. Bennett herself took part in the world-record event along with her husband and three children.
Even if you decide not to attempt any world records, Macquarie Harbor is a great place to visit to water ski, fish, kayak, canoe or take a cruise along the water. It's the only natural harbor on the west coast of Tasmania, as well as a protected UNESCO World Heritage Area.
